About Eeco

The accumulation of scientific knowledge, innovations, constantly evolving technological applications along with lightning-fast communications, is accelerating the modern development process at a dizzying speed. In a fast changing world, the rapid industrialization, urbanization and economic growth has brought some unwelcomed consequences as well. Today's dominant economic model, mostly exacerbates inequalities, encourages waste, triggers resource scarcities, and generates widespread threats to the environment and human health. The ecosystem and the overall wellbeing have been affected greatly. The ever growing population pressures has increased manifold the demand for food, fiber, water and shelter, which has resulted in intensive agriculture, wrong cultivation practices, excessive deforestation for cultivation and urbanization, unhealthy practices and environmental pollution. Misuse and over exploitation of natural resources (land, water and vegetation), beyond their recuperative resilience also lead to degradation of the ecosystem. As a result the world is witnessing growing incidents of the new “Normals” caused by climate change like erratic rains, severe frosts, and unusually warm winters. Climate disruption is already causing greater biodiversity loss and substantial losses to agriculture, habitat loss, spread of crop pests and invasive species etc. All these are ultimately affecting the livelihood of billions of people worldwide, who are directly or indirectly depend on agriculture and resources from nature for their living. Strengthening resilience to climate change and biodiversity loss is of utmost importance to establish a delicate balance between nature and development.
